Main Contender for the Three Peaks Race Promo, Nick Richardson
|
Adrian Beswick, Beauty Point Tasmania, Wednesday, 1 April 2009 Good Friday brings much attention to the sport of sailing within Tasmania with the Hydro Tasmania Three Peaks Race. The B14's are going along for the third year to feature in the pre start events on the day.
The next event on the calendar is here and low and behold it is at the 2009 Hydro Tasmania Three peaks Race.
Who: B14 Tasmania, 14 entrants (Attached)
What: Short Course racing for Public Viewing
Where: Beauty Point Wharf
When: Friday 10th April 2009 From 10:45am to 13:30pm
Why: To Raise the profile of the B14 Skiff in Tasmania and increase awareness about the Tasmanian Devil Facial Tumour Disease.
With a massive 14 entrants this year both the strait4devils crew and
also the state association is rapped with the entry levels. With a wide
range of people making the trip from all over Tasmania is should make
for one big event on Good Friday. This is the third year that the B14's
have had the opportunity to be the showcase act throughout the
pre-start of the Hydro Tasmania Three peaks race.
The North-West coasts Nick Richardson from the Wynyard Yacht Club, who
is currently third in the world is expected to do well in the short
course racing format.
Although with the Strait4devils Crew returning from their epic
adventure we are hoping that they still can remember how to go round in
circles after their epic 15 hour crossing of Bass Strait on March 17
only 4 weeks ago and keep Nick honest throughout the day.
The B14 Three Peaks Promo is the last remaining event on the Skiff
Calendar this year and after a mass of events in Tasmania this summer
it will be a good way for the group to finish up. This years events
have included: National and World Championships, RYCT Jan 2009; State
titles SBSC Nov 2008, J Boag and Son Blockbuster PDYC Feb, 2009,
Bellerive Crown series BYC, Feb 2009 and Juicy isle series RYCT Sep,
2008.
STRAIT4DEVILS: Throughout the Day the Strait4devils Team will be
raising money and selling T Shirts on the wharf, So keep your eyes
peeled and pitch in to what could be Tasmanias biggest environmental
issue of the 21st century.
